Around 20 years ago, Ukraine strategically shifted its focus towards actively exporting its agricultural production. This policy change has propelled Ukraine to become the world's leading exporter of agri-food products, playing a crucial role in global food security. Approximately 400 million people worldwide depend on Ukraine's grain, and the country exports agricultural commodities to 175 countries. In 2021, agri-food products accounted for 41% of Ukraine's total exports.

Countries worldwide heavily rely on imports of cereals, rapeseed, sunflowers and sunflower products from Ukraine.
