Roll-shaping machines were used in bakeries to form bread rolls from dough. Portions of dough from a divider were placed between two rollers that pressed the dough flat, then guided into a winding mechanism that rolled it into the final shape. This machine was manufactured by Antonín Adler's bakery machinery works in Dolní Grunt near Varnsdorf. The company was a leading manufacturer in its field during the first half of the 20th century, both in the Czech lands and internationally. This unit was later modified for manual operation using a hand crank.
