The combine was made by a Swedish company Bolinder Munktell Ltd, Eskilstuna that was established in 1832. In 1950 the Bolinder-Munktell production passed to Volvo. The exhibit was a popular model in the 1960s. The machine did not feature a driver's cab, it had a five-arm reel, a drum threshing system, and three-part shakers. The combine was originally manufactured under the name Thermaenius 257 (in 1961-1966], later it was renamed BM 257 (in 1967-1969).
