The Wishing Table at Weimar’s Belvedere Castle Friederike von Rosenberg

Overlooking the city of Weimar and its surroundings, the Wishing Table at Weimar’s Belvedere Castle is the literal centrepiece of the Baroque summer residence of the Dukes of Saxe-Weimar. The summer residence, surrounded by extensive park grounds, is the result of a radical Baroque redesign of the original hunting grounds, initiated in 1726.
The Wishing Table has retained its Baroque substance and original surfaces and is still in operation. The talk will feature the table’s history as well as its architectural and mechanical properties, being one of two famous magic tables in Germany.
