The International Council of Museums – ICOM – is a worldwide museum association. It provides museums with national, international and regional space for dialogue and the exchange of ethical standards and innovation. The National Agricultural Museum is one of the partners of the 26th General Conference of ICOM, which will take place in the week from 20 to 28 August 2022 in Prague.

The organization of the conference also brings with it nice duties, such as the symbolic handing over of the relay in the form of the ICOM flag. Already in September 2019, the Czech ICOM Committee took over the silk flag from colleagues from ICOM Japan as a symbol of the general conference and decided to continue the tradition of handing over the flag.

For a deeper expression of the symbolism of cooperation, fellow museologists from all partner organizations hand-embroider the ICOM inscription on the flag. Colleagues from museums across the Czech Republic took part in the embroidery, and now museum staff from the National Agricultural Museum, including the museum's general director Zdeněk Novák, have also joined. And because we are in the Czech Republic, our flag is embroidered with a traditional cross stitch.

After embroidering part of the letter O, we sent the flag on to the Museum of Applied Arts in Prague.

The Czech ICOM Committee will symbolically hand over the embroidered flag on 24 August 2022 in the National Museum to the organizers of the 27th General Conference in Dubai.
